Deck overview

This Selesnya midrange deck commands Selvala, Explorer Returned to fuel a dedicated lifegain and +1/+1 counters strategy. The engine opens with low-cost lifegain enablers such as Soul Warden, Essence Warden, and Auriok Champion, quickly establishing a foundation for compounding payoffs. Selvala enters early to provide mana velocity and continuous card draw through Parley, accelerating high-impact centerpieces including Archangel of Thune, Heliod, Sun-Crowned, Resplendent Angel, and Ajani, Strength of the Pride. As creatures enter and life totals surge, the board scales rapidly with +1/+1 counters, converted into decisive combat pressure via evasion and trample enablers like Champion of Lambholt and Drix Fatemaker. The list also harbors a compact infinite combo in Heliod, Sun-Crowned and Walking Ballista, offering an alternate instant win. Solid removal packages featuring Swords to Plowshares, Farewell, and Aura Shards control the table, while Drannith Magistrate and Grand Abolisher protect proactive development toward an inevitable combat or combo finish.
