Deck overview

This deck is an Izzet wheel and token swarm strategy led by The Locust God. It accelerates mana during the early turns using efficient 2-CMC artifacts to cast its 6-mana commander by Turn 5. Once The Locust God enters the battlefield, mass draw spells and wheel effects like Windfall, Wheel of Misfortune, and Reforge the Soul trigger rapid swarms of 1/1 flying Insect tokens with haste. Damage amplifiers such as Purphoros, God of the Forge, Impact Tremors, and Psychosis Crawler turn every card drawn into table-wide burn. The deck also includes compact backup win conditions, such as Dualcaster Mage with Twinflame and Niv-Mizzet, Parun with Curiosity. A robust package of free and cheap counterspells defends the engine, while The Locust God's built-in death trigger provides exceptional resilience against standard removal.
