Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black reanimator and aristocrats engine commanded by Avacyn, Angel of Horror. The strategy relies on accelerating mana in the early turns through artifacts and rituals, filling the graveyard using Entomb and Buried Alive, and reanimating high-impact threats like Archon of Cruelty, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, and Kokusho, the Evening Star. Once on the battlefield, sacrifice outlets such as Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, Phyrexian Altar, and Ashnod's Altar turn these creatures into lethal drain loops. The deck generates massive card velocity through Necropotence, Skullclamp, and death-trigger draw engines. While Avacyn, Angel of Horror offers recursive end-step insurance for nontoken creatures, the deck functions entirely independently of its eight-mana commander. It applies severe asymmetric attrition through edicts and graveyard denial while building toward a decisive life-drain finish across one to two combat rotations.
