Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This list is a Rakdos treasure-and-damage engine built around Smaug the Impenetrable, a seven-mana 8/7 with flying, haste, and indestructible that mints Treasures equal to any noncombat damage it takes. The plan is to land Smaug, point a wipe, fight spell, or ping at him, and convert the Treasure flood into a win. Primary finishes are Revel in Riches, a Treasure-fueled Torment of Hailfire, and damage loops with Pestilence, Pyrohemia, Blazing Sunsteel, or Pain for All. Backups include Hellkite Tyrant's twenty-artifact win, drainers like Reckless Fireweaver, Disciple of the Vault, and Mirkwood Bats (especially with Academy Manufactor), plus Brash Taunter redirecting wipes. Smaug is a combo outlet and a hasty clock, not a tutor; the 99 can still assemble Treasure wins and Taunter lines if he is answered, but recasting the seven-mana body is slow. The deck plays as midrange-combo that explodes the turn damage connects with Smaug.
