Deck overview

This deck leverages Squall, SeeD Mercenary to turn combat damage into continuous board development and resource denial. Squall grants himself double strike whenever he attacks alone, allowing him to trigger his reanimation ability twice in a single combat step if he connects. The deck seeds high-impact low-cost permanents into the graveyard using cards like Entomb and Buried Alive. Once Squall connects, he immediately reanimates stax pieces like Archon of Emeria, discard engines like Oppression, or edict creatures like Plaguecrafter. By forcing opponents to sacrifice creatures and discard cards while limiting their spell casts, the deck creates a severe asymmetric chokehold. Equipment such as Tarrian's Soulcleaver accelerates Squall's commander damage output, turning each opponent sacrifice into permanent power buffs. Robust protection elements, including Grand Abolisher and Selfless Spirit, safeguard Squall, while redundant reanimation options allow the deck to recover quickly from board wipes.
