Zax v4 (copy)

Format: Commander

Commander: Zaxara, the Exemplary

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Zaxara, the Exemplary leads a Sultai X-spell deck that turns every {X} spell into a Hydra army while generating mana from the commander itself. The primary plan is to ramp into large X spells, double counters with effects like Corpsejack Menace and Hardened Scales, and finish with commander damage, trampling Hydras, or an X-spell such as Exsanguinate or Villainous Wealth. Secondary paths include an infinite mana combo using Freed from the Real on a mana dork like Kami of Whispered Hopes or Gyre Sage, then dumping that mana into Walking Ballista or Triskelion. The deck also has a hidden commander in Primo, the Unbounded, which doubles X and creates Fractal tokens on combat damage. Zaxara's role is both mana engine and token generator, and the deck is built to cast it early and use its mana ability to fuel subsequent X spells.
