Varina test by user2178311

Format: Commander

Commander: Varina, Lich Queen

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

Varina, Lich Queen drives a midrange Zombie tribal deck that converts attacks into draw, discard, and life gain. The primary plan is to build a wide Zombie board, attack with Varina to fill the graveyard, and finish through drain effects such as Corpse Knight, Wayward Servant, and Plague Belcher, or by mass recursion with Zombie Apocalypse and The Scarab God. A secondary combo plan uses Rooftop Storm, Ashnod's Altar, and Gravecrawler with any drain permanent to kill all opponents at once. Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver and The Scarab God act as hidden commanders, keeping the deck functional if Varina is repeatedly removed. The deck is slower than dedicated combo lists, but its recursion and redundancy make it difficult to fully shut down.
