Deck overview

This deck is an Azorius control and midrange token strategy centered on Hylda of the Icy Crown. By capitalizing on tapping opponent creatures, the deck converts cheap tap effects into 4/4 Elemental tokens, board-wide +1/+1 counters, and card filtering. The deck features extreme functional redundancy in tap enablers, ranging from single-target tappers like Squall Drifter and Timin, Youthful Geist to mass-freeze spells like Sleep, Cone of Cold, and Blustersquall. While the mana acceleration suite is relatively thin, the deck compensates with powerful defensive control pieces such as Ghostly Prison, Authority of the Consuls, and Grand Arbiter Augustin IV. Once Opposition or a critical mass of 4/4 Elementals hits the board around Turn 6, the deck locks down opposing blockers and mana sources, securing victory through overwhelming combat damage by Turn 8.
