Buff Snakes - V1 by user7123143

Format: Commander

Commander: Xyris, the Writhing Storm

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This is a Temur snake-swarm deck whose entire economy hinges on a single engine: Xyris, the Writhing Storm. Each point of combat damage Xyris deals makes its target draw that many cards - and every card that opponent draws off Xyris's own trigger, off Edric, Spymaster of Trest, or off any opponent extra-draw converts into a 1/1 Snake. One medium hit can therefore generate six to nine tokens while refilling your hand. The deck then wins by going tall and wide simultaneously: Alpha Status, Bravado, Might of the Masses, and Stoneforge Masterwork scale Xyris off the snake count, Beastmaster Ascension and Shared Animosity turn the swarm lethal, and Embercleave or Chandra's Ignition closes the table. A dense single-target protection suite of hexproof/indestructible instants keeps Xyris alive, while Mass Hysteria, Enduring Vitality, and Druids' Repository accelerate the engine. It is explosive, deeply commander-centric, and dangerously fragile if Xyris is answered.
