Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis midrange strategy centered on Sauron, the Dark Lord. It seeks to develop mana through stable land drops and artifacts during the opening turns, deploying Sauron by Turn 5. Once on the battlefield, Sauron passively generates an Orc Army whenever opponents cast spells, punishing rapid spell-slinging. On Turn 6, combat damage from an evasive Army triggers the Ring tempts mechanic, allowing the pilot to discard a low hand and draw four fresh cards each turn. This steady card advantage fuels high-impact payoffs such as Lord of the Nazgûl, Cavern-Hoard Dragon, and Scourge of the Throne. While Sauron's steep legendary-sacrifice ward protects him from casual spot removal, the strategy wins primarily through traditional combat damage over multiple turns, making it resilient yet vulnerable to repeated board wipes.
