Deck overview

This Golgari deck is commanded by Chatterfang, Squirrel General, which doubles all token generation into additional 1/1 green Squirrel creature tokens and serves as an on-board creature removal engine. The deck accelerates in the opening turns using low-cost mana rocks, dorks, and rituals, deploying Chatterfang on Turn 2 or 3. By Turn 4, it establishes token engines via cards like Tireless Provisioner, Peregrin Took, and Deep Forest Hermit, rapidly generating a wide army of tokens. On Turn 5, the deck transitions into a lethal finish through tutored overrun effects like Craterhoof Behemoth (via Natural Order) or Triumph of the Hordes, or through aristocrat drain loops utilizing Pitiless Plunderer, Blood Artist, and Mirkwood Bats. The list features robust card draw engines such as Skullclamp and Toski, Bearer of Secrets, backed by targeted removal like Assassin's Trophy and asymmetric board control via Swarmyard Massacre.
