Deck overview

This Golgari deck is an optimized aristocrats combo engine commanded by Gorma, the Gullet. The primary strategy exploits Gorma's static ability, which places +1/+1 counters on entering nontoken creatures equal to the number of creatures that died under your control this turn. When combined with a creature featuring persist (Putrid Goblin, Lesser Masticore, Rendclaw Trow) and any free sacrifice outlet (Carrion Feeder, Viscera Seer, Ashnod's Altar), the persist creature returns to the battlefield with both a -1/-1 counter and a +1/+1 counter. State-based actions cancel both counters immediately, allowing you to sacrifice the creature repeatedly an infinite number of times. With an aristocrat drain piece such as Blood Artist or Marionette Apprentice, this loop drains all three opponents to zero life at instant speed on Turn 4. Dense mana dorks, versatile tutors, and heavy card draw engines like Skullclamp ensure consistent assembly and rapid recovery.
