Deck overview

This deck is a high-power mono-black control and stax build designed around Tergrid, God of Fright. The game plan focuses on accelerating Tergrid into play on Turn 4, then immediately resolving symmetrical discard or sacrifice spells like Dark Deal, Pox, Pox Plague, or Rankle's Prank. Tergrid's ability triggers off these effects, taking all discarded permanent cards and sacrificed nontoken permanents from opponents' graveyards and putting them onto your battlefield. This completely drains opposing resources while building an overwhelming board state. Supporting pieces like Waste Not, Geth's Grimoire, and Aclazotz, Deepest Betrayal ensure continuous card advantage and mana generation. The deck defends Tergrid with cheap instant-speed protection and death-replacement spells like Malakir Rebirth and Imp's Mischief. Games close out around Turn 7 via massive combat swings from stolen creatures combined with drain finishers like Torment of Hailfire and Tinybones, Trinket Thief.
