Deck overview

This Orzhov deck is a synergistic lifegain and attrition engine helmed by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. The primary game plan utilizes low-cost lifegain permanents like Soul Warden, Authority of the Consuls, and Creeping Bloodsucker to trigger the commander's ability, paying life to draw an abundance of cards each turn cycle. The deck leverages this immense card velocity to assemble drain multipliers such as Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Marauding Blight-Priest, and Psychosis Crawler. It closes out games on Turn 7 through a high-damage Debt to the Deathless, devotion bursts from Gray Merchant of Asphodel, or an infinite drain loop with Exquisite Blood. The deck boasts an extensive interactive suite featuring versatile exile removal and flexible board wipes like Farewell and Toxic Deluge. While it lacks dedicated fast mana and targeted tutors, its functional redundancy and high card flow ensure dependable performance.
