Deck overview

This is a Gruul creature-beatdown deck helmed by Ruric Thar, the Unbowed. The primary plan is to deploy a dense board of big, efficient creatures, leverage haste enablers, and chain extra combat phases to overwhelm the table in a single turn. Ruric Thar himself acts as a symmetric stax piece that punishes noncreature spells, giving the deck a powerful deterrent while it builds its creature army. The deck wins through combat damage, often culminating in a massive Craterhoof Behemoth pump or a sequence of extra combats from Combat Celebrant, Moraug, Fury of Akoum, Bumi, Unleashed, and Anzrag, the Quake-Mole. Mana dorks and cost reducers accelerate the curve, while a handful of creature-based removal and protection spells provide limited interaction.
