Deck overview

This mono-blue deck transforms noncreature spells into a wide Merfolk army using Grandmother Goby. Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, Goby counters it to create 1/1 Merfolk tokens equal to the mana spent. The list circumvents this drawback by running uncounterable spells like Glen Elendra's Answer and Benevolent Geist, creature-based interaction like Vodalian Hexcatcher and Tishana's Tidebinder, and cast-trigger engines like Archmage Emeritus. Once assembled, the deck leverages tribal lords such as Lord of Atlantis and Master of the Pearl Trident alongside Tide Shaper to give the entire swarm unblockable Islandwalk. Utility pieces like Junk Winder lock down opposing boards with every token created, while Skullclamp converts tokens into massive card advantage. The deck controls the stack, protects its board with ward and phasing, and eliminates opponents through lethal combat over 2 to 3 attack steps.
