Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis Spellslinger and Combat Storm strategy led by Fire Lord Azula. The commander provides an explosive engine by generating {R}{R} upon attacking and copying every spell cast during combat. The game plan leverages cheap cost-reducing creatures such as Goblin Electromancer and Stormcatch Mentor alongside mana rocks to cast Azula on Turn 3. Starting on Turn 4, attacking with Azula doubles the value of all instant-speed combat tricks, card draw, and rituals. Win conditions combine burst commander damage through copied pump spells like Bulk Up and Temur Battle Rage with widespread table burn from magecraft pingers like Guttersnipe, Coruscation Mage, and Ashling, Flame Dancer, culminating in a copied Crackle with Power. The list features robust protection options like Mithril Coat and Redirect Lightning to keep Azula safe while storming off.
