Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis midrange build centered on Sauron, the Dark Lord. The primary strategy focuses on deploying ramp during the first three turns, resolving Sauron on Turn 5, and leveraging his passive abilities to dominate the game. Sauron punishes opponents for casting spells by amassing a large Orc Army token and protects himself with a punishing Ward cost requiring the sacrifice of a legendary permanent. When the Army deals combat damage, the Ring tempts you, allowing you to discard your hand and draw four fresh cards each combat step. This constant card replenishment fuels a robust suite of interaction, board wipes, and complementary threats like Saruman, the White Hand and Orcish Bowmasters.
