Gandalfs Sorcery Party - Updated 15.03.2026 - Bracket Set: 15.03.2026 by Hally

Format: Commander

Commander: Gandalf, Friend of the Shire

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Gandalf, Friend of the Shire is a flash enabler for a mono-blue control and tempo deck. The primary plan is to develop cheap draw engines and cost reducers, hold up interaction, then use Gandalf to cast instant-speed sorceries such as Cyclonic Rift, River's Rebuke, Bribery, or Expropriate. Secondary paths are evasive beatdown with Consecrated Sphinx or Starwinder, theft effects, and copying permanents. The Ring-tempt rider is barely supported, so Gandalf functions as a timing engine rather than a draw engine. There is no hidden commander; Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir acts as a second flash piece and a minor lock. The deck aims to out-value, protect one big haymaker, and close via extra turns or borrowed threats.
