Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This is a Golgari life-gain and +1/+1 counter deck helmed by Blech, Loafing Pest, who turns every life-gain trigger into +1/+1 counters on the deck's Pests, Bats, Insects, Snakes, and Spiders. The deck generates life from a remarkable number of incidental sources - lands like Jungle Hollow and Radiant Fountain, spells via Tablet of the Guilds and Ancient Cornucopia, creature ETBs from Bogwater Lumaret, and attacks from Blossoming Bogbeast and Shopkeeper's Bane - then converts it into a growing swarm of tokens and direct drain through Dina, Soul Steeper, Enduring Tenacity, Starscape Cleric, and Blood Artist. Counter doublers like Hardened Scales, Branching Evolution, and Winding Constrictor supercharge the growth. The deck wins through combat with a wide, trampling, menacing, deathtouching board, or by draining the table out over several turns. It is a slow, value-driven engine with no infinite combos.
