Commander: Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls commands a Rakdos group-slug deck that turns standard game actions into lethal life loss. The primary strategy establishes symmetrical and asymmetrical punish permanents like Roiling Vortex, Manabarbs, and Spellshock to damage opponents whenever they cast spells, tap lands, or draw cards. Valgavoth rewards this strategy by growing larger and drawing up to three extra cards per turn cycle whenever opponents take damage on their turns. Secondary win paths amplify damage through Solphim, Mayhem Dominus and Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might, or close out games with massive life swings from Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Syr Konrad, the Grim, and Bloodchief Ascension.
