Deck overview

This mono-black graveyard deck is built around Baron Helmut Zemo, leveraging connive triggers from black spell casts to filter cards and stock the graveyard with high-pip creatures. The deck accelerates through dense early mana sources like Dark Ritual, Jet Medallion, and Lake of the Dead to deploy Baron on Turn 3. It rapidly fills the graveyard using Entomb, Buried Alive, and self-discard, aiming to accumulate fifteen black mana symbols in the bin. On Turn 5, Baron attacks to activate his Boast ability—or the deck casts Living Death—free-casting massive payoffs such as Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Dire Fleet Ravager, Zodiark, Umbral God, and Bolas's Citadel. This decisive onset drastically reduces opposing life totals and constructs an insurmountable board presence. Surviving opponents are given a single response cycle before an overwhelming combat swing closes the game on Turn 6. While vulnerable to targeted graveyard hate and lacking instant stack answers, the deck possesses high functional redundancy and resilient standalone reanimation lines.
