Deck overview

This is a Bant +1/+1-counters midrange list helmed by Tidus, Yuna's Guardian. The plan is to land cheap counter engines, connect in combat so Tidus's Cheer trigger draws a card and proliferates, and snowball a modified board into lethal combat damage. Tidus is a three-mana value engine, not a Voltron closer: he relocates a counter at the beginning of combat and turns any connecting creature with a counter into incremental cards and growth. The ninety-nine is full of independent amplifiers (Hardened Scales, Innkeeper's Talent, Conclave Mentor, Kami of Whispered Hopes), combat doublers (Byrke, Long Ear of the Law, Zimone, Paradox Sculptor), and the premier finisher Herald of Secret Streams, which makes the whole modified team unblockable. There are no infinite combos; the deck wins by attacking. Recursion and interaction are present but fair, and the mana base is well-fixed Bant with almost no traditional fast mana, so games develop on a classic midrange clock.
