Deck overview

This deck is a classic Grixis Wheels and Group Slug deck commanded by Nekusar, the Mindrazer. The strategy revolves around turning the fundamental game action of drawing cards into lethal life loss. By combining draw-punishment permanents like Nekusar, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, Underworld Dreams, and Fate Unraveler with symmetrical wheel spells such as Wheel of Fortune, Windfall, and Dark Deal, the deck deals massive chunks of noncombat damage across all three opponents simultaneously. Symmetrical draw engines like Howling Mine, Font of Mythos, and Teferi's Puzzle Box ensure a continuous stream of damage while digging through the library. Efficient interaction, including Deflecting Swat, Force of Negation, and flexible spot removal, protects key pieces and disrupts opposing win attempts. While vulnerable to creature removal and the inherent risk of refueling opponents' hands, the deck's extreme density of interchangeable punishment pieces and wheel effects provides overwhelming inevitability by Turn 8.
