Rats together strong by Jooosh

Format: Commander

Commander: Ashcoat of the Shadow Swarm

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a mono-black Rat tribal swarm deck helmed by Ashcoat of the Shadow Swarm. The plan is to flood the board with Rats-especially the 14-copy Rat Colony package-then attack with Ashcoat to pump the team by the full Rat count while his end-step mill-and-return ability restocks the hand. Token engines (Lord Skitter, Sewer King, Marrow-Gnawer, Piper of the Swarm, Pack Rat) and tribal anthems (Vanquisher's Banner, Chronicle of Victory, Eldrazi Monument) turn a modest board into lethal combat damage. Secondary paths include poison via Karumonix, the Rat King, Ichor Rats, and Phyresis, plus infinite-Rat loops with Marrow-Gnawer and Thornbite Staff. Thrumming Stone plus the Colony density creates explosive free-cast turns. The deck wins through overwhelming combat, poison counters, or drain outlets once the swarm is online.
