Deck overview

This Bant deck helmed by Derevi, Empyrial Tactician functions as an engine-driven creature midrange strategy. It leverages Derevi's combat damage untap ability alongside high-yield mana producers like Bloom Tender, Faeburrow Elder, and Cryptolith Rite to generate immense mana velocity. The deck converts this mana into card advantage and board presence through draw-engine staples and token generators that trigger on drawing second cards each turn. As the board widens, +1/+1 counter engines such as Danny Pink, Innkeeper's Talent, Ouroboroid, and Kalonian Hydra rapidly inflate creature power. The deck closes games through overwhelming combat damage with Craterhoof Behemoth or scalable hydra attacks, while holding alternate win conditions in Twenty-Toed Toad and Simic Ascendancy. Backed by cheap interaction and Derevi's tax-exempt command zone activation, the deck sustains high resilience against removal.
