Deck overview

This Golgari deck is commanded by Shelob, Child of Ungoliant, utilizing a spider-tribal midrange strategy focused on deathtouch combat control, creature theft, and token aristocrat attrition. Early turns prioritize ramping with efficient artifacts and land-fetch spells to accelerate Shelob into play by turn 5. Once Shelob is assembled, she grants all Spiders deathtouch and Ward {2}, transforming ordinary utility creatures into lethal defensive blockers and precise removal engines. Equipping fight gear such as Thornbite Staff, Viridian Longbow, or Nemesis Mask allows the deck to systematically destroy opposing creatures and resurrect them as Food artifact tokens. Token multipliers and aristocrat engines like Academy Manufactor and Mirkwood Bats convert these tokens into explosive mana and lethal table-wide drain. The deck closes games around turn 8 through mass life drain, an overrun enabled by Night of the Sweets' Revenge, or graveyard domination with Rise of the Dark Realms.
