Thranduil, the Elvenking Casual ish by Bmav

Format: Commander

Commander: Thranduil, the Elvenking

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

A Sultai elfball deck built to exploit Thranduil, the Elvenking's graveyard-ability clause. The plan is simple in shape but layered in execution: jam an early critical mass of one- and two-mana Elf dorks, land Thranduil on turn three or four, then use Buried Alive, Entomb, and Gifts Ungiven to stock the graveyard with Wirewood Channeler, Bloom Tender, Devoted Druid, Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord, and Ezuri, Renegade Leader, effectively turning Thranduil into a one-card combo toolbox. The primary kill is infinite or quasi-infinite mana via untap loops - Staff of Domination, Freed from the Real, Umbral Mantle - converted into a deck draw, an Ezuri overrun, or a Jarad table drain. The backup plan is traditional Elf combat with Elvish Champion, Imperious Perfect, and Lathril, Blade of the Elves turning a wide board lethal.
