Deck overview

This Dimir reanimator deck uses Mirko, Obsessive Theorist to turn surveil triggers into continuous board growth and free end-step reanimation. The deck operates by filtering cards into the graveyard during the early turns using efficient surveil spells, looters, and tutors such as Unmarked Grave and Vile Entomber. Once Mirko enters the battlefield on Turn 3, subsequent surveil triggers add +1/+1 counters, allowing Mirko to reanimate increasingly impactful creatures at each end step. Payoffs like Agent of Treachery, Sheoldred, Whispering One, and Massacre Wurm strip opposing resources and control the board, while clone effects like Auton Soldier and blink enablers like Displacer Kitten multiply these enters-the-battlefield triggers. Supported by efficient countermagic including Fierce Guardianship and Mana Drain, the deck protects its engine while eliminating finality counter drawbacks through counter-manipulation tools like Power Conduit and Soul Diviner, closing games through overwhelming combat pressure and board attrition.
