Deck overview

This Azorius control deck uses Grand Arbiter Augustin IV to enforce an asymmetric resource tax on opponents while discounting its own spells. The strategy focuses on slowing down opposing decks with entry taxes, search restrictions, and artifact hate such as Strict Proctor, Spider-Woman, Stunning Savior, Aven Mindcensor, and Stony Silence. It stabilizes the battlefield through efficient board wipes like Cleansing Nova, Day of Judgment, and Depopulate, alongside versatile countermagic. Once the table's tempo is suppressed, the deck transitions into the late game by deploying resilient evasive creatures, notably Sphinx of the Final Word and Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir, to slowly close out the match through combat damage. While it boasts formidable disruption and protection tools like Teferi's Protection, its lack of compact combo finishes means it must maintain board control over extended turns to secure a win.
