Deck overview

This Boros deck focuses on Horse typal synergy led by Shadowfax, Lord of Horses. The primary game plan revolves around accelerating into Shadowfax on Turn 4 or 5. Because Shadowfax grants Horses haste, it attacks immediately upon entering the battlefield, triggering its ability to cheat a creature with lesser power from hand directly into combat. The deck leverages this tempo advantage to deploy potent combat amplifiers such as Blade Historian, Thurid, Mare of Destiny, and Crested Sunmare without paying their mana costs. While the deck boasts an outstanding defensive suite featuring Boros Charm, Flawless Maneuver, and Akroma's Will to protect against wipe effects, its card draw is relatively lean, relying heavily on opening hand quality and natural top-decks to sustain momentum across a multi-turn combat finish.
