Deck overview

Ayara, First of Locthwain leads a mono-black aristocrats and attrition strategy that grinds down opponents through persistent life drain and forced sacrifices. The deck establishes early board presence with recursive creatures like Gravecrawler and Reassembling Skeleton to repeatedly trigger Ayara's life drain and draw cards. Edict effects such as Grave Pact, Dictate of Erebos, and Butcher of Malakir dismantle opposing creature boards. You close out the game through accumulated drain triggers, an explosive mass-drain spell like Exsanguinate, an alternate win with Revel in Riches, or an overwhelming Living Death that clears enemy creatures and returns your entire army.
