Deck overview

This mono-black control deck pairs pillowfort defense with symmetric punishers and explosive drain finishers. Led by Miss Highwater, the strategy tempts opponents into card advantage while punishing draw and discard actions through permanents like Sheoldred, the Apocalypse and Waste Not. Pillowfort elements such as No Mercy, Koskun Falls, and Silent Arbiter discourage incoming attacks, directing combat elsewhere. Meanwhile, the deck accumulates Swamps to fuel Cabal Coffers, Crypt Ghast, and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx. Once established, it finishes tables by multiplying life loss with Bloodletter of Aclazotz and Wound Reflection, or casting game-ending X-spells like Torment of Hailfire and Exsanguinate. The deck offers strong creature defense and steady attrition, though it relies on opponents accepting deals and has limited interaction against noncreature permanents.
