Deck overview

This Orzhov deck leverages lifegain and aristocrats attrition to drain all opponents simultaneously while converting life into extensive card advantage using Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. Early turns establish soul sisters and extort enablers such as Aunt May, Impassioned Orator, and Syndic of Tithes. As mana develops, the deck introduces compounding midgame threats like Battle Angels of Tyr, Carmen, Cruel Skymarcher, and Mirkwood Bats. Landing the commander unlocks rapid card draw by paying life whenever life is gained, fueling large mana sinks like Exsanguinate and Debt to the Deathless. While the deck features robust engine recovery and independent win lines, its reliance on natural land drops and lack of fast mana create a deliberate pace that leaves its creature-heavy board exposed to sweepers.
