Deck overview

This Jeskai spellslinger deck harnesses Gandalf, Party Guest to cheat expensive instants and sorceries directly into play. The strategy focuses on curving out efficient legendary Wizards during turns 1 through 3 to maximize Gandalf's combat-trigger scaling upon his turn 4 entry. With two or three legendary Wizards in play, Gandalf casts mid-to-high CMC spells for free at the start of every combat. The deck leverages token engines such as Talrand, Sky Summoner, Kykar, Wind's Fury, and Hermes, Overseer of Elpis to build wide boards while prowess-style anthems like Adeliz, the Cinder Wind and Balmor, Battlemage Captain turn each cheap spell into table-wide power buffs. High-impact spells like Raise the Palisade, Storm Herd, and Akroma's Will provide decisive closing power by turn 6 or 7. A robust suite of counterspells and instant-speed protection shields key engines against removal, while asymmetric sweepers clear opposing boards without disrupting your own legendary Wizard core.
