Deck overview

This Dimir reanimator deck uses Gyruda, Doom of Depths as a companion alongside commander Uldaros Theorix. By restricting every nonland card to an even mana value, the deck maximizes the density of clone creatures. In the early game, cheap looters and entomb effects like Psychic Frog, Vohar, Vodalian Desecrator, and Unmarked Grave prepare the graveyard while two-mana artifacts accelerate your mana. On turn 4, reanimating or casting Gyruda triggers an enter-the-battlefield mill ability that repeatedly hits clones such as Spark Double, Phantasmal Image, and Flesh Duplicate. Each clone enters as Gyruda, continuing the chain until opponents' libraries are empty. A robust suite of zero- and two-mana counterspells and removal spells protects this sequence against disruption. If Gyruda is removed, commander Uldaros Theorix provides a strong backup plan by casting up to six mana value worth of spells from the graveyard for free.
