Commander: Jenova, Ancient Calamity

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Golgari deck helmed by Jenova, Ancient Calamity is a +1/+1 counter engine that leverages the commander's combat trigger to pump a second creature and turn it into a Mutant, then draws cards when that Mutant dies during the turn. The primary game plan is to build an overwhelming board of large creatures through counter doublers (Branching Evolution, Hardened Scales, Doubling Season, Corpsejack Menace), sacrifice them for value (Ashnod's Altar, Dina, Essence Brewer), and finish via combat damage, Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord flings, or Psychosis Crawler drain. The deck lacks fast combo lines and relies on incremental advantage and resilient recursion to outlast opponents.
