Deck overview

This deck is a Mono-Black Aristocrats and Attrition build commanded by Rat King, Pale Piper. The strategy centers on generating 1/1 Rat creature tokens whenever nontoken creatures leave the battlefield, turning routine creature deaths, sacrifices, and reanimation into steady card draw and life drain. Early turns focus on deploying sticky fodder such as Nine-Lives Familiar and Ophiomancer alongside mana ramp. Once Rat King, Pale Piper enters on Turn 4, the engine converts token sacrifices into fresh cards via its activated ability, Vampiric Rites, and Braids, Arisen Nightmare. In the midgame, drain multipliers including Marionette Apprentice, Nadier's Nightblade, Arnyn, Deathbloom Botanist, and Syr Konrad, the Grim bleed the table. Asymmetric pieces like Massacre Wurm, Winter Moon, and Leyline of the Void disrupt opposing game plans while Gray Merchant of Asphodel and recurring creature loops close the game around Turn 8.
