Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir control and tribal strategy piloted by Vren, the Relentless. Vren acts as both a continuous graveyard hate piece and an explosive token engine by exiling opposing creatures whenever they die and creating scaling Relentless Rat tokens at each end step. The deck pairs low-cost utility Rats, hand disruption, and toxic threats with an extensive removal package featuring single-target removal, edicts, and board wipes like Toxic Deluge and Crippling Fear. Once Vren is established, clearing opposing boards simultaneously fuels an insurmountable swarm of huge Rat tokens that quickly close the game through combat damage. While the deck possesses strong creature control and resilient combat threats, its low ramp density, reliance on tap-lands, and lack of noncreature permanent removal leave it vulnerable to fast spell-based combo and noncreature permanents.
