Format: Commander

Commander: Grist, Voracious Larva // Grist, the Plague Swarm

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Golgari self-mill deck whose real engine is the back face of the commander: Grist, the Plague Swarm. The front 1/2 deathtouch creature is a cheap enabler; the deck tries to reanimate a creature from the graveyard while Grist is on the battlefield to transform it, then uses its +1 to mill and make Insect tokens. The 99 contains a second Grist as a backup, and the deck can pivot to reanimating Gray Merchant of Asphodel or landing a Whip of Erebos loop. Finishing lines are the -6 token swarm (often with Demolisher Spawn pump), Gary drains, and large trampling Insects. It is not a combo deck; it grinds into a wide board.
