Deck overview

This mono-black deck is led by Fumulus, the Infestation, turning symmetrical sacrifice effects into massive asymmetric board advantages. Whenever any player sacrifices a nontoken creature, Fumulus creates a 1/1 black flying Insect token. The deck leverages an extensive suite of edicts—including Accursed Marauder, Fleshbag Marauder, Sheoldred's Edict, and Grave Pact—to clear opposing boards while generating a lethal airborne army. Fumulus converts this swarm into unblockable life drain whenever its Insects attack, synergizing with aristocrat staples like Blood Artist, Bastion of Remembrance, and Ayara, First of Locthwain. Card draw is fueled by engines such as Skullclamp, Necropotence, and Braids, Arisen Nightmare, while mana velocity is accelerated by Warren Soultrader, Crypt Ghast, and Cabal Coffers. As a compact backup win condition, the deck features the two-card infinite combo of Professor Onyx and Chain of Smog, providing a decisive, instant-speed finish when combat and attrition are stalled.
