Deck overview

This mono-black deck combines aristocrats sacrifice engines, big-mana generation, and attrition control with an 8-mana commander that recur nontoken creatures every end step. Early turns focus on accelerating mana through artifacts, rituals, and land doublers like Cabal Coffers and Crypt Ghast. Once established, engines like Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, Grave Pact, and Dark Prophecy generate immense card advantage while keeping opposing boards clear of creatures. Resolving Avacyn, Angel of Horror turns death triggers into recurring end-step value engines: sacrificing Kokusho, the Evening Star or Gray Merchant of Asphodel drains opponents repeatedly across every player's turn. Supported by powerful backup mass reanimation like Living Death and Rise of the Dark Realms, the deck grinds down opposing life totals and resources to close the game around turn 8.
