Deck overview

Thryx, the Sudden Storm commands a mono-blue big-mana control deck designed to cast expensive sorceries, extra turns, and sea monsters without risk of countermagic. The strategy establishes early mana acceleration with artifacts like Sapphire Medallion and Sol Ring, then flashes in Thryx on Turn 4. With Thryx in play, all spells with mana value 5 or greater cost one less and cannot be countered. This protection clears the path for uncontested game-ending cards like Expropriate, Time Stretch, Omniscience, and Clone Legion. Mass draw spells like Rush of Knowledge and Flow of Ideas keep the hand full of answers and threats, while asymmetric bounce spells like Spectral Deluge and efficient single-target removal keep aggressive opponents in check. The deck closes out games by stringing together extra turns and attacking with large flying threats and Shark Typhoon tokens.
