Hydra Experiment by user9781675

Format: Commander

Commander: Zaxara, the Exemplary

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Zaxara, the Exemplary is the deck's single engine and mana source: every spell with {X} also creates a Hydra, and the commander can be untapped into an infinite mana loop with Nyxbloom Ancient. The primary goal is to assemble that loop, then spend an arbitrarily large X into Torment of Hailfire or Villainous Wealth. If the combo is not found, the deck wins through enormous Hydras boosted by counter- and token-doubling effects, made unblockable by Herald of Secret Streams or trampling with Garruk's Uprising. There is no double-faced or hidden commander; the entire construction is built around Zaxara's normal face.
