Deck overview

This deck is a classic Rakdos Reanimator strategy commanded by Chainer, Nightmare Adept. The deck focuses on discarding or entombing high-impact creature threats into the graveyard and returning them ahead of curve. Chainer acts as a consistent discard outlet and engine piece, granting haste to any creature cast from the graveyard or put directly onto the battlefield from non-hand zones. With a robust package of 13 reanimation effects—including Animate Dead, Persist, and Victimize—the deck quickly establishes dominant board states with game-ending bombs like Valgavoth, Terror Eater, Vilis, Broker of Blood, and Razaketh, the Foulblooded. While lacking fast mana and infinite combos, the deck generates compounding value through recurring creature enter-the-battlefield abilities, card draw, and life-drain engines like Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Syr Konrad, the Grim. Its primary vulnerabilities are targeted graveyard exile and counterspells against reanimation spells.
