Valgavoth by EddyTk

Format: Commander

Commander: Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos group-slug deck helmed by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls, built to punish every game action and convert opponents' life loss into cards and a growing commander. The core plan is to layer pain permanents - Sulfuric Vortex, Underworld Dreams, Spiteful Visions, Roiling Vortex, Painful Quandary, and The Lord of Pain - so that drawing, casting, activating, and gaining life all cost life. Every opponent life-loss trigger feeds Valgavoth, drawing a card and putting a +1/+1 counter on him, turning him into a flying, ward-protected finisher. Damage amplifiers like Fiendish Duo, Uncivil Unrest, Fated Firepower, and the Torture Pit half of Spiked Corridor accelerate the clock, while goad effects from Kardur, Doomscourge and Vengeful Ancestor keep the table fighting itself. The deck wins through attrition drain, amplified damage, or Valgavoth commander damage.
