Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis reanimator and midrange engine built around Sauron, the Dark Lord. It leverages efficient artifact ramp and looters to establish early board presence and fill the graveyard. By Turn 4, the deck deploys Sauron or reanimates a massive threat like Archon of Cruelty or Vilis, Broker of Blood. Sauron rapidly amasses Orc Armies whenever opponents cast spells, and combat damage from Armies triggers Ring temptations to discard spent hands and draw four fresh cards. This card velocity fuels continuous graveyard recursion, board wipes like Toxic Deluge and Blasphemous Act, and asymmetric attrition through cards like Archfiend of Ifnir and Notion Thief. Without relying on infinite combos, the deck achieves victory by overwhelming opponents with evasive combat damage from tall Armies, flying bombs, and commander damage over multiple combat cycles.
