Deck overview

This Golgari deck is centered on Ygra, Eater of All, blending aristocrats drain, token generation, and +1/+1 counter beatdown. By turning every creature on the battlefield into a Food artifact, Ygra weaponizes the death of any creature—whether token, utility body, or opposing blocker—to accumulate massive +1/+1 counters. The early game focuses on deploying efficient ramp (Farseek, Arcane Signet) and renewable token engines (Chatterfang, Squirrel General, Chitterspitter, Blight Mound). Once Ygra hits the board on Turn 4–5, the deck transitions into a lethal threat: each creature sacrificed triggers aristocrat drain pieces like Bastion of Remembrance and Blood Artist while pumping Ygra into single-hit commander damage range. High-synergy permanents like Grave Pact and Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest provide asymmetric board control and table-wide buffs. While the deck boasts immense board presence and recovery, its reliance on natural draws and lack of instant-speed protection leave its multi-turn combat clock vulnerable to well-timed sweepers.
