Commander: Karlov of the Ghost Council

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

An Orzhov lifegain/drain deck built around Karlov of the Ghost Council. The primary plan is to gain life repeatedly via extort, lifelink, and drain effects, pumping Karlov while incrementally draining opponents. The deck's secondary plan is a combo-finish using Vizkopa Guildmage's second ability with a large X-spell, accelerated by Crypt Ghast and Urborg. Karlov acts as a removal engine and growing threat, but the deck does not depend on him to execute its main plans. The hidden commander is none; neither face of a double-faced commander is used, as the commander is a single-faced card.
