Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis midrange deck commanded by Sauron, the Dark Lord, combining the amass mechanic, Ring-tempting triggers, and token attrition. The deck accelerates in the opening turns using efficient mana rocks before deploying Sauron around Turn 5. Sauron punishes opposing spellcasts by amassing an Orc Army, which triggers the Ring and filters into a fresh four-card hand upon dealing combat damage. Once the engine is online, the deck leverages evasion enablers like Gleaming Overseer and Corsairs of Umbar alongside aristocratic burn from Mirkwood Bats and The Great Goblin to grind down opponents. Strong interactive pieces like Counterspell, Toxic Deluge, and Chaos Warp keep opposing threats in check, while Sauron's oppressive ward cost deters targeted disruption. The deck wins by delivering lethal combat strikes with a massive Army token supplemented by broad noncombat drain.
